The result of the survey on the intention of attendance at postponed IMRF in mid October 2011 in Fukuoka was as follows:

Answer Overseas(n=99) Japanese(m=56) Total (n+m=155)
a 37 44 81
b 14 3 17
c 21 5 26
d 1 4 5
e 16 0 16
f 10 0 10

a: abstract submission +, probable attendance +
b: abstract submission +, probable attendance -
c: future abstract submission +, probable attendance +
d: abstract submission -, probable attendance +
e: abstract submission -, probable attendance -
f: other opinions

A majority of the respondents answered (a). Moreover, a number of colleagues answered (b) mainly because of their educational duties in mid October. However, the way around, the number of colleagues who answered (c) is larger than the number of those who answered (b).

Based on this result, I and the secretariats made a judgment that we could expect good number of attendants even if IMRF2011 would be
postponed and relocated. Therefore, please let us decide to set the new date and venue as follows:

New date: Monday, 17 October to Thursday, 20 October, 2011
New venue:
Acros Fukuoka

For the colleagues who have submitted an abstract but will probably not attend the postponed IMRF2011 (answer (b)), we are considering the possibility to provide virtual presentation opportunities for the accepted abstracts using some sorts of digital media.

We are also planning to call for abstracts for the colleagues who will probably attend and submit an abstract for the postponed IMRF2011 (answer (c)). The second deadline for abstract submission would be scheduled around the end of July.

Moreover, those who had submitted their abstracts by the original deadline can revise them by the midst of April. The notification of acceptance for the submissions to the original deadline would be informed around the
beginning of May. The exact dates would be announced on our Web page soon.

Thank you very much for your kind opinions as well as warm sympathies. They helped me and secretariat members to make this decision. I wish I could meet you all in Fukuoka in this October!

All the best wishes,
Yôiti
